What for?

It is mandatory to have a French bank account registered in France to be eligible to financial assistance provided by government institution, e.g. housing financial assistance (CAF) and student scholarships (CROUS).

How to proceed

Applying for a bank account in France will require you to provide:

A copy of your ID whether that is your Passport, National ID or residence permit.
Proof of address in France, e.g. tenancy agreement, electricity bill.
A visa if required by your home country

It is necessary to set up an appointment with the financial institution.
