The Erasmus Student Network is a network of host associations for international students born in 1989 shortly after the first Erasmus exchanges. On the initiative of the European Commission, these students create the first host associations for Erasmus students (the first one is born in Utrecht, in the Netherlands) and students from around the world in general with the creation of new mobility programs.
Today ESN is present in 40 countries, divided into three levels:
The national associations are the head associations of the different countries, responsible for bringing the issues related to mobility at the national level and to animate the national network of local associations that have decided to join the network. ESN France is the French national association of this network, federating 34 associations in 2017. ESN France animates and develops this network of associations of the hexagon in order to allow them to develop and to equip themselves with the increasing number of young people wanting to experience mobility.
